The game was originally conceived as a technical demonstration for a JPEG glitch effect in a Weirdcore aesthetic, but was later expanded with a small retro-themed adventure inspired by old operating systems.

A retro jpeg compression aesthetic with runtime glitch generator

A stylized image effect for Unity URP based on real-time YCbCr color compression,
chroma shift, and scanline distortion. Designed for post-internet aesthetics like
Dreamcore, Weirdcore, PS1 era, or Retro Web nostalgia.

Work as a Render Feature Capable with RenderGraph and Unity 6 available on the
 

• YCbCr Conversion Glitches— Core of the effect is built on RGB → YCbCr conversion,
mimicking how real JPEG compression treats luminance and chrominance channels.

• Chroma Color Distortion — The chroma channels (Cb, Cr) are downsampled and
quantized, creating soft bleeding, color shift, and compression artifacts in motion.

• Scanline Drift — Optional interlaced-style camera memory effect that introduces
 ghosting, delayed readout, and analog vibes.
